11 reasons I design

A couple years ago I was undergoing job searches for graphic design positions. I came across this veryinteresting interview question. I had to provide 11 reasons why I am a designer, in order to be considered for that particular position. I decided to go ahead and write down my 11 reasons and post them on my website. It gives you a view of the type of person I am, how i design and think. I had some fun with this list, I hope you enjoy reading it..

1. I wanted to apply for a circus clown position, however my qualifications did not fit the job description.... I still have an extra red nose if anyone needs one.

2. Details are very important.... I considered doing a thread count on my shoe laces this morning but decided against its merit of relevance.

3. I'm a fan of subliminal designs.... The dirt under my fingernails, did I intend for it to be left there?

4. I like making noise! Provocative and edgy are great tools i love to use.... If a tree falls in a forest, NO it doesn't make a noise. However If a car hits another one because someone stopped to look at your ad, then YES thats some noise!

5. I try to be resourceful with design, and everything else.... A piece of toasted bread can be more than just a Morning meal... Try using toast as a paint brush on your next piece!

6. Colors are bright if you use them right... Colors are great when you tease the audience with how sexy a solid color can be!

7. I'm a fan of following a plan.... Surprise birthday parties are great! A surprise wedding might not work out so well 'honey surprise... we're getting married"

8. If your boiling water and watching it, it takes longer for it to boil... If your stuck on a design put it away for an hour, bring it back out and you can often make it 10 times better!

9. Don't sniff markers. It gets funny colors on your nose.

10. I'm well behaved in design and in my manners... I'm not like a monkey who slings poo.

11. I keep a rubber ducky on my desk... He reminds me of the kid I am at heart and how simple designs sometimes need be.
